Short, honest books about the things people actually struggle with. Every one started as a real conversation and was built the same way I build books for clients.
Jonah Mercer writes short, plain, honest books about habits that die, confidence that disappears, friendships that hurt, and unfairness that never explains itself. Four titles are on Amazon now, with more landing as they are finished. Every one is available in ebook and paperback.
I do not write books about things that went well for me. Every book on this shelf started with a failure I had to sit with first - the habit that collapsed, the woman I could not speak to, the friend who never called back, the trip that broke down in the middle of nowhere. The books are the part that came after.
If you are deciding whether to hand me your own story, the honest test is to read one of mine. Same method, same process, same finishing stage clients get.
Why your habits keep dying around day twelve, and the small mechanics of behaviour that outlive motivation. Written from inside the failure, not from a podium. Covers the one-minute practice, habit stacking, the Worry Window, and why comparison kills habits before they start.
Written because I have started and dropped more habits than I have kept, and I wanted to find out what actually held instead of guessing again.
The beginner's guide to building with AI without a laptop. Everything in this book was built, tested and shipped from a budget Android phone: working platforms, an AI pipeline, a self-improving system. If the only computer you own is in your pocket, this is your manual.
Written because everyone told me you need a real machine to build anything, so I built one on the cheapest thing I had to prove it was never true.
Why you freeze with the women you actually like, and how to stop. A story-first account of one man's pattern of freezing, leaving first, and reading silence as a verdict, with the psychology underneath and the practice that changes it. Volume One.
Written because I was confident everywhere in life except the one room it mattered most, and I refused to keep calling it shyness.
What it costs to be the person everyone calls and nobody remembers. A short, honest book about one-sided friendships, invisible helping, and how to stop earning belonging you could simply ask for.
Written because I spent years being useful to people who never once asked what I needed, and I wanted to name the pattern instead of repeat it quietly.
Survival notes for anyone the odds keep cheating. A straight-shooting book about unfairness - the shortcuts that work for some people, the luck that never arrives, and the mindset that keeps you in the fight anyway.
Written for everybody watching other people get handed the thing they worked twice as hard for, and deciding to stay in anyway.
One word, said once, at the exact moment comfort walked away, and what that word actually means. A story-first book about the smallest honest sentence a person can produce: the farm trip that broke down, the walk that was "not far," and every moment since where one word was truer than a paragraph.
Written because one honest word at the right second carries more than a page of careful sentences ever could.
Every title on this shelf went through the same five stages, and it is the same sequence I run when I build a book for a client.
That is the whole method. There is no secret technique - there is sitting with the material long enough to find the true version, then refusing to ship anything but that.
Short books that finish are worth more than long books that drift.
My own shelf leans self-help and memoir, and that is what I am best at. But client books are a different thing entirely - I write whatever genre you want written. Memoir, business, faith and testimony, children's stories, poetry, practical guides, collections, even light fiction if that is your story. If you can describe it, it can be built.
Tell me what your story is about, even in one sentence. I reply personally within a day. No pressure, and I will tell you honestly if we are not a fit.
